Question 1

Is this a subscription?

Accepted Answer

No. SteerShare is a one-time purchase of a share of one specific steer. You claim your share, pay once, and receive your beef on that steer's scheduled pickup or delivery day. Nothing recurs.

Question 2

How does claiming a share work?

Accepted Answer

Open steers are listed first-come, first-served. Choose a steer, pick your share size (eighth, quarter, half, or whole), and complete checkout. Your units are held while you check out. Once all eight units of a steer are claimed, that steer closes.

Question 3

How much beef is in each share, really?

Accepted Answer

An eighth share is roughly 45–55 lbs of finished beef, a quarter is 90–110 lbs, a half is 180–220 lbs, and a whole steer is 360–440 lbs. Exact weights depend on the individual animal and your cut sheet choices.

Question 4

Do I choose my cuts? How does the cut sheet work?

Accepted Answer

Yes. After you claim a share, we contact you to build a custom cut sheet with our butcher. You choose steak thickness, roast sizes, ground ratio, and specialty cuts. If you're new to this, you can simply say 'butcher's choice' and we'll handle it.

Question 5

When do I get my beef?

Accepted Answer

Pickup or delivery is tied to your steer's harvest date. After you claim, we collect your cut sheet, schedule harvest week, then dry-age, cut, vacuum-seal, and coordinate your pickup or hand-delivery day.

Question 6

How much freezer space do I need?

Accepted Answer

Rule of thumb: about 1 cubic foot per 30–35 lbs of finished beef. Eighth ~1.5–2 cu ft (fits a fridge freezer), Quarter ~3–4 cu ft (small chest freezer), Half ~6–7 cu ft (7 cu ft chest freezer), Whole Steer ~12–14 cu ft (large chest freezer). These are estimates.

Question 7

How long does vacuum-sealed beef keep?

Accepted Answer

Properly vacuum-sealed and kept at 0°F or below, beef stays in excellent condition for 12+ months. We package every share to last in your freezer until you're ready to cook it.

Question 8

Is it USDA inspected?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every steer is processed at a USDA-inspected facility. The beef is harvested, dry-aged, cut, and vacuum-sealed under inspection before it ever leaves the processor.

Question 9

Where do you deliver, and what does delivery cost?

Accepted Answer

We hand-deliver in Greater Austin and Dallas-Fort Worth, and ranch pickup in Georgetown is always available. We do not ship beef. Local home delivery has a small fee, and it's free on that order with any creator code. Enter your ZIP in the delivery checker to confirm your address.

Question 10

Can I pick up at the ranch?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Ranch pickup in Georgetown, Texas is always free. After your steer's processing is complete, we coordinate a pickup window and send you the details.

Question 11

Can I pay over time?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Affirm and Klarna are available at checkout, so you can split a quarter, half, or whole share into monthly payments.

Question 12

Can two families split a share?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Many halves and wholes are split between families. Just note it at checkout and we'll pack the share accordingly so each family gets their portion.

Question 13

What if the steer doesn't sell out?

Accepted Answer

Shares are first-come, first-served. If a steer has not sold out by its harvest window, the remaining units may still be processed for members who have already claimed.

Question 14

Is the beef really 100% grass-fed AND grass-finished Wagyu?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our steers are 100% grass-fed and grass-finished Wagyu, raised on pasture in Georgetown, Texas. They are never fed grain to finish, and we use Wagyu genetics for the marbling that gives the beef its flavor and tenderness.
