    Freezer space by share size

The rule of thumb we use everywhere: about 1 cubic foot per 30–35 lbs of finished beef. These are estimates — the final mix on your cut sheet changes the shape of the load a little.

Eighth Share~45-55 lbs~1.5–2 cu ft (fits a fridge freezer)
Quarter Share~90-110 lbs~3–4 cu ft (small chest freezer)

Picking a size for the freezer you already have

Only have the freezer on top of your fridge? Start with an eighth. A small chest freezer handles a quarter. A 7 cu ft chest freezer is the fit for a half, and a whole steer needs a large chest freezer (about 12–14 cu ft).

Not sure? The quarter is our most popular size and the one most families of four land on.

How the beef arrives and how long it keeps

Every cut is vacuum-sealed and frozen before it leaves the processor, so it goes straight into your freezer. Vacuum-sealed beef holds quality 12+ months at 0°F without freezer burn.

Packaging is labeled by cut, and ground beef comes in 1 lb packs, so you can pull exactly what you need for the week.

    Typical quarter share
Steaks (ribeyes, NY strips, sirloin)~20–24 lbs
Ground beef (1 lb packs)~36–44 lbs
    Roasts~16–20 lbs
    Brisket / short ribs~10 lbs
