Georgetown Square's Farm-to-Table Movement Is Bigger Than You Think

Georgetown's downtown Square has quietly become one of Central Texas's strongest local-food scenes. Here's the lay of the land.

Georgetown's historic Square has changed in the last five years. What used to be antique shops and a couple of cafes is now one of the more interesting small-town food scenes in Texas — independent bakeries, coffee roasters, breweries, and chefs sourcing from local farms and ranches.

Long Road Ranch is part of that ecosystem. We supply beef to a handful of operators on and around the Square, and we shop the Saturday Georgetown Farmers Market regularly for produce, eggs, and bread to pair with our own boxes.

If you live in Georgetown and you've been buying produce at the farmers market but still buying beef at HEB, you're missing the easiest upgrade in your kitchen. The same logic that makes you choose the Saturday market for tomatoes applies double to beef.

Williamson County has the land, the ranchers, and the community to support a real local-food economy. The only thing missing is people choosing it consistently. Every beef share, every weekly market run, every dinner sourced from within 30 miles keeps this going.
